Gorontalo is the 32nd province of Indonesia located on the north side of Sulawesi island. They have a lot of nicknames like “Kota serambi madinah” and “Bumi para sastrawan” recently they got “The Hidden Paradise” as their new nickname because Miguel’s Diving has published a book that shows Gorontalo’s underwater beauty.

Gorontalo or most local said “Hurontalo” and they have ethnicity in form Pohala’a which mean family, and there is Pohala’a Hulontalo, Pohala’a Suwawa, Pohala’a Limboto, Pohala’a Bolango, Pohala’a Atinggola, and all of them part of Hulontalo tribe.

is called bentor and it was one of Gorontalo’s traditional transportation. 

According to the history, Gorontalo peninsula formed around 1300 years ago where Suwawa kingdom has established for 700 Masehi or around the 8th century, and you can find the royal family cemetery site around Bulawa and Bone river.

Most of the surface is hills and there is a lot of mountain therefore the height of the area is uneven.

With the condition of Gorontalo province near the equator, making this area has a fairly hot air temperature. The minimum temperature occur in September which is 22.8 Degree C. while the maximum temperature occurs in October with a temperature of 33.5 Degree C

Gorontalo Province has relatively high air humidity, the highest rainfall occurs in May, but the highest number of rainy days is in July and December, which is 24 days.

The airport mainly serve with local airplane like Garuda, Lionair, and sriwijaya, from the airport to the main city is take a good hour-long drive. There is also a bus that runs from Manado that leaving at 05.30 and cost around 100.000 rupiah. The trip takes 11-12 hours.
